Have any songwriters here ever got burnt out by running into business relationships where you gave a good song with a good production, but your song didn't deliver because the engineer you worked with either put in half the effort or oversold their mixing/mastering abilities to you? It happened to me in 2018. I burnt out from the experience and stopped releasing my stuff. I'm starting to put myself out there again by posting simple demos of my stuff and another guy approached me recently...Have any songwriters here ever got burnt out by running into business relationships where you gave a good song with a good production, but your song didn't deliver because the engineer you worked with either put in half the effort or oversold their mixing/mastering abilities to you? It happened to me in 2018. I burnt out from the experience and stopped releasing my stuff. I'm starting to put myself out there again by posting simple demos of my stuff and another guy approached me recently wanting to work with me, but from past experiences I'm getting red flags already that this person might be overselling their abilities....I'm kind of on a rut on finding a mixing/master engineer I can trust at this point. So I joined organizations like SGA to break this cycle. I'm based in Maryland, but I'm thinking about travelling to Nashville to get my songs recorded, mixed, and mastered. I want the mix good enough to get a publisher or label's attention. I know it will cost me a significant amount of money, but if the mix is good to me it's worth it. Does anyone know of any studios near Maryland or in Nashville you had a good experience with that you wouldn't mind referring me to? The style of music I'm recording is Americana and Acoustic Alt-Folk Punk. I want the mix to sound like it's being recorded in an cathedral. Show more
